Frequently Asked Questions
2008 – 2009 Data Collection
enrollment in a district?
“Date of First
Enrollment” refers to the date a student was first enrolled in the district.
Magnet schools that provide bilingual/ESL services would be the school-of-record for English language reporting purposes. Thus, the students would be counted as enrolled in the magnet school, not the home school. This is different from Title I accountability procedures.
No, exited students are students who demonstrate that they have acquired English language proficiency by having the multiple criteria for exiting language assistance programs.
If they appear on the list of students that took the ACCESS for ELLs® test in the Spring, 2009, then you should report if they met the criteria for program exit, even if they subsequently moved out of the district. Only those students who were tested with the ACCESS for ELLs® test in the spring of 2009 will appear on the list of students. Any student who left the district before the spring testing or who did not take the ACCESS for ELLs® test will not be included.
These students may be reported as part of the Title III annual measurable achievement objectives (AMAO) appeal process once your district receives notice of whether or not it has met the Title III objectives.
These students
cannot be added to the data collection screen. Please contact the Office of Student
Achievement and Accountability (609-292-8777 or lepexit@doe.state.nj.us ) in the New
Jersey Department of Education to obtain a data collection form for this
purpose.
You can’t. ACCESS for ELLs® is the only test that is accepted for the 2008-2009 school year. The only exception would be SRA in the native language students who took the MAC II test instead of the ACCESS test. (see 6 above).
The User Manual for the online data collection provides directions for entering information into the data collection screen.
